I recently got a chance to get away from reality and vacation with a group of friends in the lovely New Orleans. We danced, dined and check out some local places that are sure to be on my list next time I go back. Out of all the times I have visited New Orleans I have never gone to Mardi Gras World, it was definitely neat to check out how the floats are made and see behind the scenes of artists working. So if you are ever looking for something unique to check out while in New Orleans (besides haunted graveyards and celeb homes) go check Mardi Gras World out! Good clean fun for the whole family!

It's not often I step in front of the camera to take photos of myself. However recently I braved up to take some shots. (Yes standing in the yard outside of my apartment with a tripod while neighbors looked at me thinking I was looney. lol) So here are some shots of what I got, the good, the bad and actually some of my favorites. I don't care for much skin smoothing and editing, because I feel like we need to live as ourselves and embrace who we are. The photos that look most like us are the photographs that our family will cherish most later on.
So, before you get descent photos like the one above (in my opinion), you'll need to set yourself up for success. Below are some tips to get you started.
Don't be afraid

The key is to...
Spend true quality time with one another.
Let's face the facts, here in Louisiana we don't really get a true fall season. We don't get the warm colors of the leaves, the cooler temperature breezes and its usually not your pinterest worthy scarf and boot weather. However a we can still love fall, the smell of pumpkin spice in the air, cool nights and bonfires and the fun of decorating for the holiday season ahead.
First in the line up for fall is Halloween of course. Now I know its only just August but you know that Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas will sneak up on us before we know it. With decorations already hitting stores it's not to early to start planning for your holidays. Now when I say to start planning for the holidays; I definitely don't mean to start stressing about making a huge turkey, dinner menu ready to make a king happy or buying the perfect gifts for everyone on your "nice" list. I mean planning on being present in the moment and spending time with loved ones.
Here are just a few ideas to get you started and excited for fall:
With so many events happening, daily schedules and back to school the key is to spend true quality time with one another.

So if you know me, you already know that I am not one to ask to hold your newborn child or squeal at a stroller as everyone looks down into it on the new born baby. There is nothing wrong with that at all I am just saying I am not one for it. Yet when a child gets a little older and develops their own personality and own little quirks I can't help but to usually think they are the coolest thing ever! Trust me, there are a couple of toddlers out there I would love to call my bestie and yes they are way cooler than me! lol
So when I got a chance to hang out with a couple little awesome peeps and their mom... of course I said yes!

Hello there everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to brag how well this mom (aka my awesome friend Cesli) decorated and hosted a fun birthday pow wow for her two year old, Hunter Brylee. I mean she even got matching family shirts! How stinkin cute! She decked each table out with awesome Pinterest worthy table toppers and even kept the snacks in theme with items such as; Campfire cookies, haystacks (rice krispies), teepee trail mix and Sticks & Bones (Grapes & Pretzel sticks). Everyone was supplied with materials to paint their faces and even wear a little DIY'd headpiece, and no one left empty handed due to the Pow Wow packs she hand stamped to fit the theme and filled with goodies. The kids all had a blast with activities such as bean bag toss, hula hoops and balls to toss back and forth. With activities set outside the kids were sure to have fun running around (and exhausting themselves) the weather was great and we even had a fire to roast some weenies on. All and all she out did herself and threw an amazing party for Miss Brylee, that she will be able to look back at and know her mom is one of the best!
