Messy. Dirty. FUN?

Whew…ok so we wanted to remove a few things. Maybe more than the hubbs thought and honestly more than I thought, originally. Can you believe I actually thought I could save these cabinets…let’s have a moment for that. Keep in Mind the house is from the 1960’s.

With all new appliances going in we thought why not go ahead and get all, ALL fresh cabinets. Stay tuned for that update.

Yes. It was messy. Yes. It was dirty. Yes, it is a lot of work to do this things.

But all good things take time, right?

Other Demolition projects we have done, include: ripping out the blue carpet in the front room (what would be originally the “Formal Dining Room”. Then came the fun floor tacks from said carpet. Props to the hubby for doing all that dirty work!

Of course by popular opinion we ended up removing all the popcorn ceiling. Not the easiest Task btw! Bit of a learning curve on that one, but now we can say it’s all gone.

***Hood vent will be eventually replaced with a modern Black & Glass.

In Order: Master Bedroom. Bedroom 2. “Formal Dining” (Soon to be office/Studio.)

^^^ Bye-Bye Popcorn ceilings.

^^^ Popcorn ceiling: 1) Before 2) During 3) After skimming ceiling with drywall mud.

Still to remove will be kitchen cabinets and of course to clean the floors. We have at this moment finished skimming the ceilings with drywall, to cover as many imperfections as possible and now are prepping to paint. I know it may not look it, but it is coming along. So excited to see all the paneling painted!

What’s your opinion on the wood paneling? Paint it or leave it?

We bought a house!

After three years of living in Lafayette we decided to come back and make Monroe, La our permanent home.

Only 2 weeks of being back in the area we found this gem at a price we could not pass up.

I cannot wait to see the finished product and I hope you stick around to watch the progress as we revamp this 1960s home
